Cockpit Hiking Rails
Quote from Michael Smith on January 6, 2024, 11:37 amThere has been some interest in the cockpit rails installed in Hot Sauce. It was added for comfort and crew safety while racing. The flat deck can be slippery when you are healing. This has been a significant improvement and worth the effort. You could simply install some teak rails. In the case of Hot sauce, it was preferred to install the rails into the glass structure of the cockpit deck. Cousa foam was used to form the body of the rails. The rails were attached with screws and epoxy adhesive, then tabbed in place with cloth. The install was finished with fairing compound and sanded before paint and non-skid were applied. Check the video link below to learn more about the construction process.
